KELSO PIPE BAND Bob has been a member of Kelso Pipe Band for the past 15 years or so, joining first as a side drummer and taking the role of Leading Tipper for a year or two. About 8 years ago Bob decided to go back to playing the pipes which he learned as a boy, and after a few months practise was playing the pipes again in the band. The Pipe Major of Kelso Pipe Band is Alan Veitch and the current Leading Tipper is Ronnie Stepanenko. Kelso Pipe Band recently merged with the youth band of Kelso and District Pipe Band and now have around 25 playing members and a healthy core of kids learning to play pipes and drums. Kelso Pipe Band plays at numerous events around the Scottish Borders including various events at the famous Kelso Showground, venue for several important events throughout the year. The band has also travelled to France to Kelso's twin town of Orchies and members of the band have also played at La Capelle international cheese & wine fair and Hirson Pentecost Parade, both in Northern France. Kelso Pipe Band meets for practise every Wednesday night at the Royal British Legion, Roxburgh Street, Kelso. New members always welcome. For enquiries contact band Secretary John Inglis on 01573-228102, or contact Bob on his "contacts" page. See below for photos of Kelso Pipe Band. |
